Micro-finance and micro-credit the noble concepts to help the poor people of the developing world is changing the perspective of financial sectors in a rapid way. The growth of MFI organizations are growing in rapid speed through out the world and for a good cause.

We are very much in the position to say that Microfinance and Microcredit are re-writing the developing world's socio-economic dynamics.

As per the report by mixmarket the 1810 MFI organization are operating in various part of the world with a gross loan portfolio of USD 39.5 billion (upto 2008) and distributed among USD 71.6 million borrower with average loan balance per borrower USD 572.8.

We can easily imagine the volume of data to be processed and maintain to generate and operate of this sum of amount. Managing risks of portfolio could be better managed with the help of Information Technology. But there are several Microfinance organizations exists who are unable to take advantage of IT and thus lacking their growth and in turn people needs their help loosing opportunity for a better life.

From our experience we have seen many MFI maintains their books of accounts manually. And in one review exercise we have identified few pain points which are the main barrier to their overall goal and growth.

  • Fear of distracting by the usage of computer
  • No or vague idea of IT operation cost
  • Lack of trained professionals to manage and operate their IT requirement
  • Unavailability of IT professionals due to their remote operating locations
  • Bitter experience from using poorly designed and managed customized softwares by local vendors
  • In-experience of identifying their IT needs with their daily operational need

But We have also experienced that there are many MFI organizations having their own IT infrastructures and team but unable to get proper benefits out of their IT practice.

We as a solution providers have provided solutions to our clients with very specific solutions to automate their repetitive and manual processes and they are getting befitted by this solutions.

At present we are approaching our clients with Internet based hosted solutions for their specific needs to minimize their IT infrastructure cost and train their employees.

We at present started developing a back-office solutions for small MFI organizations operating in microfinance sectors with client base from 10000 to 50000 in India. We will be soon launching this solutions and will invite organizations for beta usage.

We are using Drupal as our base development platform to minimize the development cost and hoping to open source it when we will reach a reasonable state to distribute it.
